Princeton Jumps To No. 12 in CWPA Varsity Poll; Scores Victory over Wagner

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 12 Princeton Tigers snagged a 9-6 victory over the Wagner Seahawks at DeNunzio Pool on Wednesday night.
Highlights:
Casey Conrad and Matt Payne registered hat tricks in the win.
Princeton scored all four goals in the second frame to take a 5-2 lead at the intermission.
After the Seahawks closed within one in the fourth quarter, the Tigers recorded the last two goals to pick up the victory.

Wagner posted the first two tallies of the game as Princeton finally got on the board with 2:23 to go in the first frame. The Seahawks were kept scoreless for 12:37 of game action as the home unit posted a 5-2 halftime advantage. The two teams exchanged goals in the third stanza as the Tigers led 6-4 after 24 minutes.
Right as the clock ticked under four minutes remaining, Wagner closed the gap to one, 7-6. The Seahawks were held off the scoreboard the rest of the way as the Tigers earned a 9-6 decision.

The two top squads in the poll remained the same as USC took the first position, followed by UCLA. Stanford, California, UC-Santa Barbara complete the top five. Harvard still remains the top Northeast Water Polo Conference team, sitting at No. 8.
