Comeback Wins Highlight 8-1 Princeton Win At Brown
January 12, 2019 | Men's Squash
Both Alex Engstrom and Cody Cortes rallied from 2-0 deficits, while teammate Henry Parkhurst added a five-game win of his own, to lead the Princeton men's squash team to ann 8-1 win over Brown in the 2019 Ivy League opener.
Engstrom dropped a pair of tight games, including a 12-10 decision in the second, but he was able to assert control in the third against Philip Demeulenaere, and he lost only two points in the final two games for a victory at the #4 position.
Cortes' match at the #5 spot was much more dramatic at the end, but the Princeton senior has made a career of winning marathon matches. He did it again against Harrison Boyer, winning 11-8 and 11-9 in the final two games to grab the win. Parkhurst had the answers for Ben Caraballo at the eighth spot and grabbed an 11-4 win to take that match.
Princeton will look for the 2-0 Ivy start Sunday at noon when it takes on Yale in New Haven. The sixth-ranked Bulldogs fell 7-2 to fifth-ranked Penn Saturday afternoon.
