COMPLETE RESULTS
Joanna Curry began Senior Day by joining her classmates in a pre-meet ceremony, and she ended her day with the winning touch on the final relay that helped clinch a pair of dual wins for Princeton during its final regular season meet at DeNunzio Pool. Princeton avenged Friday's loss to Rutgers with a 164-117 win, and the Tigers added a 143-138 thriller over Villanova.
Curry actually had the first individual win of the day, as she raced past Villanova's Kelly Montesi to win the 400 IM in 4:21.94. Two events later, Princeton put big points on the scoreboard with a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 breast; sophomore Shaelyn Choi took the win in 2:22.04, while both Vivian Wang (2:23.45) and Jenny Ma (2:23.50) took the next two spots.
Villanova made a run in the middle of the meet, but Princeton went 1-2-3 in the 100 breast to grab control again. Ma took the win in 1:05.74, while Christie Chong finished second in 1:06.63 and Wang took third in 1:06.82.
The lone double winner for Princeton came in the diving well, as sophomore Sophia Peifer finished off a brilliant weekend by sweeping the 1- and 3-meter events. Peifer opened her day by scoring 283.30 points on the 3-meter board, and then she edged teammate Mimi Lin on the 1-meter board with 256.85 points (Lin had 255.65).
Princeton ended the meet in style, as the 400 medley relay of Izzy Reis, Wang, Chong and Curry clinched the win by defeating Villanova in 3:50.97.
Princeton will now break for finals, but it will return to the pool during the first weekend of February when it competes in H-Y-P weekend at Harvard.
