Katrin Lewis Claims Diving Win At Seton Hall, Nearly Doubles In Lead Up To HYP Weekend
January 31, 2019 | Women's Swimming and Diving
Junior Katrin Lewis, who has dealt with injuries over the past nine months, made her return to the pool recently in time to help Princeton during its two biggest weekends of the year, including the upcoming H-Y-P dual in Cambridge. In order to get some added competition prior to the loaded February schedule, diving coach Sean Letsinger entered her as an unattached diver during a recent Seton Hall-St. Peter's dual, and she nearly came away with a sweep of both boards.
Lewis opened the meet by claiming the 1-meter event with 280.12 points, enough for a narrow victory over Seton Hall's top diver, Taylor Jackson. Lewis nearly matched that score later in the meet with 280.05 points on the 3-meter board, but Jackson edged her by two points for the win. Regardless, Lewis could leave the meet with both experience and confidence, as she will lead a young diving corps into Blodgett Pool this weekend.
The Princeton divers, which sent the trio of Charlie Minns, Sine Scribbick and Colten Young to the NCAA Championships last year, have put together a strong first half of the season. They have already qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, which will be held March 11-13 in Annapolis, Md. Minns, who qualified on all three boards last year, will get added high-level experience this weekend when he competes at the 2019 British Diving Cup on all three boards.
