Princeton sophomore Brianna Shvets won five matches to advance through both the prequalifying and qualifying singles draws at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., but Shvets' run came to an end Wednesday in the first round of the main draw.
Shvets battled Duke's Kelly Chen, ranked No. 5 in the nation by the ITA, for three sets before Chen prevailed, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Along the way, Shvets beat three ITA top-125 players before extending Chen to a third set.
The Tigers will resume play this weekend, as Nathalie Rodilosso, Jayme Leschly, Michelle Sorokko and Maia Sung compete in Charlotte's 49er Invite beginning Friday.
