Cressey's Late Goal Helps Tigers Tie Colgate, 2-2
November 22, 2019 | Men's Ice Hockey
With the extra attacker on, Jake Paganelli sent a cross-ice pass to Jackson Cressey, who quickly fired on net and slipped a shot between the pads of Colgate netminder Mitch Benson, tying Friday night's game in Hamilton, N.Y. at 2-2 with 33 seconds to go, and that's how the weekend's first game finished up for the Princeton men's hockey team.
Princeton will make the hour-and-a-half trip west from Colgate to Cornell for a Saturday night visit to the No. 2-ranked team in the nation, set for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
Princeton began the scoring Friday night just more than eight minutes into the game when Spencer Kersten found Christian O'Neill just behind the goal line and O'Neill sent a one-touch pass to Corey Andonovski in the slot for Andonovski's own one-timer inside the left post and a 1-0 lead.
Princeton kept it there until just past the midway point of the second period when Colton Young scored to square it for Colgate, and Jared Cockrell gave the Raiders the lead with less than two minutes left before the ice cut.Â
It stayed 2-1 Colgate until Princeton brought the extra attacker on with just less than a minute to go and Paganelli found Cressey for the tying goal.
