PRINCETON, N.J. – The Big Al Invitational was a stellar meet for the Princeton University women's swimming & diving team that featured several notable performances. Let's take a look back at some of the highlights of the meet!
Marquardt Posts Superb Time in 500 Freestyle
Ellie Marquardt's time of 4:40.56 seconds in the 500 freestyle would have qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships. Her time currently ranks 22nd in the country and was the second-fastest in program history.
New 400 Freestyle Relay Record
A new program record was set in the 400 freestyle relay; Marquardt, Nicole Venema, Amelia Liu and Christina Bradley clocked in at 3:17.67 seconds to rewrite the record book.
Venema Qualifies for 2020 US Olympic Trials
Venema qualified for her 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials cut in the 50 freestyle after touching the wall at 25.99 on Monday during a long course meter time trial.
Ivy League Victories
The Tigers picked up two Ivy League victories, defeating both Dartmouth University and Brown University. Princeton also finished with the most points of any team at the meet with a total of 1123.50.
Bests All-Around
A total of 33 personal best times and 50 season best times were set throughout the meet.
Up Next
The Tigers' divers will compete at the Tennessee Diving Invite beginning on Friday, January 3. Both the swimmers and divers will then take on Villanova University in a dual meet on Friday, January 10 at 4 p.m. at DeNunzio Pool.
