PRINCETON – Princeton University had a 42-22 edge in shots on goal in its game against Colorado College on Friday night, but it was CC who had the advantage where it matters in a 7-2 win at Hobey Baker Rink.
Princeton scored first off a pretty finish from Liam Grande 9:51 into the game, but Colorado College rallied with the next four to take a 4-1 lead midway through the second period. Alex Bererdinelli scored first for Colorado College 11:06 into the first period and Sam Renlund followed 2:01 later to give CC a lead it would not relinquish.
Nick Halloran scored 8:08 into the second period as Colorado College extended its lead, and Chris Wilkie scored the first of his two goals at the 13:46 mark to provide the visitors a 4-2 lead.
Princeton got one back on the power play as Christian O'Neill finished in front from Corey Andonovski and Jackson Cressey with 4:15 left in the second period to cut the deficit to 4-2. Any momentum was short-lived, however, as Colorado College netted one more before then end of the second period via the first of two Grant Cruickshank goals.
CC iced the game with two goals in the span of 0:49 – the first from Wilkie and the second from Cruickshank.
Princeton was 7-for-7 on the penalty kill in the game.
The two teams reconvene at Hobey Baker Rink on December 7 at 7 p.m. to finish the series.
