Clayman's Eagle Highlights Tigers' Final Round in Florida

The first tournament of the spring season for the Princeton men's golf team came to a close Sunday at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
Princeton finished 14th in a field of 15 teams that included seven Golfstat top-50 teams. Vanderbilt, ranked third in the nation by Golfstat, finished at 1-under and won by a stroke over host Florida. Vanderbilt's Will Gordon, ranked 17th in the nation individually by Golfstat, won at-7 by a stroke over the 83rd-ranked player, Albin Bergstrom of South Florida at -6.
Jake Mayer tied for 30th and was the top Tiger, finishing at +5.
Mayer's sophomore classmate Sam Clayman eagled the par-4 14th hole in Sunday's round for the only eagle of the day and one of just 11 across the three-day event that included 254 rounds by 85 players. Clayman's eagle was one of just five on par-4 holes as the other six eagles came on par-5 holes.
The Tigers will head back to the Sunshine State next weekend for a tournament hosted by Florida State Saturday and Sunday.
