Véronneau Signs NHL Contract with Ottawa Senators

Princeton's Max Véronneau has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the NHL's Ottawa Senators, the club announced on Tuesday.
"We are very excited to have Max join the Ottawa Senators," said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion. "We aggressively pursued Max, whose talents made him one of the highly sought-after college free agents available this year. He plays the game with tremendous pace and has terrific offensive instincts. Max will be given the opportunity to compete to be part of the Senators team, both now and in the future."
Dorian told the media Véronneau should be joining the team by Thursday and will be with the club through the remainder of the season.
An Ottawa native, Véronneau is a two-time nominee for the Hobey Baker Award and is a second-team All-America.
Véronneau finishes his Princeton career ranked fourth all-time in scoring with 143 points (52 goals, 92 assists). He is second all-time in Princeton history in career assists and holds the school record for assists in a season with 38 from the 2017-18 season. Veronneau also is the record holder for points in a season with 54, surpassing a record that stood for 58 years, from Princeton's ECAC Hockey Championship season. He is the first player to set a school record in single-season points at a Division I school with a program older than 25 years since Chris Kunitz (Ferris State) in 2002-03.
This season, Véronneau finished second on the team in scoring with 13 goals and a team-high 24 assists for 37 points to rank 14th in the nation in points per game at 1.19 ppg. He was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Month after 11 points in six games during the month of February.
During Princeton's ECAC Championship season, Véronneau led the nation in assists with 38 in 34 games and was second in the nation in scoring overall with 1.54 ppg. He captured first-team All-ECAC Hockey and All-Ivy League honors. As a sophomore, season he was twice named an NCAA Star of the Week (First Star on Dec. 13, Second Star on Dec. 6), was the national Player of the Month (December) while earning second-team All-ECAC Hockey and All-Ivy League honors.
"Max had a terrific career for Princeton and I am excited that he has an opportunity to play in the NHL, especially his hometown," Princeton head coach Ron Fogarty said. "Besides his overall skill and skating, he will have a positive impact in the Ottawa community, as he did here for four years."
Véronneau is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award is also a two-time ECAC All-Academic selection studying mechanical engineering.
