Back-to-Back! Women's Tennis Team Completes Second Straight 7-0 Ivy Season
April 21, 2019 | Women's Tennis
Nicole Kalhorn and Brianna Shvets on court one and Clare McKee and Grace Joyce on court two secured the doubles point for the Tigers, and wins from Stephanie Schrage, Shvets and Kalhorn across three of the top four singles courts got Princeton to four points on the day.
"The thing that has been so special in the past two years is that we've really put the emphasis on the team and not necessarily beating specific other teams," Kalhorn, a senior, said. "Focusing on us specifically and wanting to play for each other, it didn't matter who we were playing, and I think we were able to come together when a lot of teams were struggling to do so, and so I think it was just playing for something bigger than ourselves and that was the Princeton legacy."
Princeton is the first team to turn in back-to-back perfect Ivy seasons since Harvard had a four-year run from 2003-06.
The Ivy title is Princeton's 15th all-time and fifth in the last six years. Princeton will find out its NCAA tournament destination Monday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
