Mayer Surges to Share Lead at Princeton Invitational

Princeton sophomore Jake Mayer carded seven birdies and just one bogey to surge into a tie for first place after Saturday's two rounds at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton.

Mayer stands at -8 to stand alongside Yale's Teddy Zinser and Paul Stankey atop the leaderboard, one stroke in front of Loyola's Evan Brown and Penn's Mitchell Cornell in the 75-player field. Mayer turned in three birdies and a bogey in Saturday's first round.

Sunday's final round will start 8 a.m., and Princeton will begin teeing off at 8:45 a.m.

Yale, at -19, and Penn, at -12, are atop the 13-team field with Loyola third at -2. Princeton stands eighth at +5 with Max Ting, tied for 12th overall at -2, leading the Tigers' five-player contingent with Mayer competing as an individual.
