Princeton Announces Women's Lacrosse Class of 2023

The Princeton women's lacrosse coaching staff is proud to introduce the incoming class of nine players who will make up the Class of 2023.

"We are thrilled to welcome these nine players to Princeton Lacrosse," head coach Chris Sailer said. "As their bios reveal, they are quite accustomed to winning, having been integral parts of conference, state, and even national championship teams throughout their high school years. The class includes numerous USL High School All-Americans and Academic-All Americans, as well as goalkeeper and a draw specialist, two critical needs we identified for this recruiting class. Our team and coaching staff can't wait to get out on the field with these nine in September. We believe they have what it takes to help keep Princeton on top of the Ivy League and in the national spotlight for years to come."

Emma Briger, 5-1, Goalie, Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep
A two-time All-American, Briger was a three-time Goalie of the Year in the West Bay Athletic League (WBAL). A four-time all-league selection, she finished her career with 383 saves, 128 ground balls and 74 caused turnovers. Sacred Heart was league champion in 2019, when she had 86 saves, 44 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. The team was WBAL tournament champion in 2016.

Briger played for the US Lacrosse Women's National Tournament NorCal Team 1 in 2017 and was on the Under Armour All-American Command Division West Team in 2016.

A 2019 Adrenaline All-American, Briger was named to the USA Today All-USA Preseason High School Girls Lacrosse Team and was a 49er Cal Hi Sports Spring Season Scholar-Athlete.

Briger also played for the Israeli U19 national team and was tournament MVP in 2017.

Invited for a tryout with the USA U19 Team, Briger played club lacrosse for Tenacity and Team HLA.

Kari Buonanno, 5-6, Midfield/Attack, Providence, R.I./Moses Brown
A four-time US Lacrosse All-American, Buonanno was also a four-time Rhode Island Player of the Year. She helped Moses Brown School win four consecutive state championships with a 63-7 four-year record. Buonanno had a career total of 431 points on 285 goals and 146 assists and was a two-year captain. As a senior she had 82 goals and 43 assists for 125 points and was named the 2018 Rhode Island Female Athlete of the Year, selected by the Rhode Island Sports Media.

The team's MVP as a senior, she won the Coaches Award in 2018 and 2017 and was the team's Rookie of the Year in 2016.

Buonanno also played field hockey at Moses Brown, earning MaxPreps Rhode Island Player of the Year twice and being named a third-team All-American in 2018. A three-time first-team All-State selection, she scored 179 total points.

Buonanno was on the 2019 Under Armour Senior All-American Lacrosse Team and was on the USA U19 training team. She was twice on the Under Armour Underclass Highlight Team and was the MVP of the Under Armour Underclass Command Team in 2016. She played for Mass Elite Club and was on the Mass/RI Team 1 divisional championship team at the US Lacrosse National Tournament in 2017.

Caroline Burnett, 5-8, Defense, Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's & St. Agnes
A defender at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes, Burnett was the team MVP and captain as a senior. She helped the team to a four-year record of 109-9 and a No. 2 ranking in the nation in 2019 by US Lacrosse/Nike. She had 72 ground balls, 46 caused turnovers and 17 draw controls as a senior and had 168 career ground balls, 143 caused turnovers, 52 draws and 26 assists.

The Saints were the 2016 and 2019 state champion while taking second in both 2017 and 2018, falling in overtime of both of those title games. Winning three Independent School League (ISL) championships, Burnett was named all-league twice and was a VISAA first-team all-state selection. A two-time US Lacrosse All-American, she was also twice named to the Under Armour Highlight team. Burnett was named first-team All-Met by the Washington Post and was on the US Lacrosse Magazine Girls to Watch List in 2019. She was the 2019 Alexandria Sportsman Club Lacrosse Player of the Year.

Burnett earned both the 2019 St. Stephens and St. Agnes Most Outstanding Athlete
Award and The Silver Cup Award for 12 seasons of sports at St. Stephens and St. Agnes after earning four letters in basketball, field hockey and track & field as well.

An All-ISL selection in field hockey, Burnett was the state runner-up in the 4x400 with the school record and was a state finalist in the 500.

She played club for Capital Lacrosse Club, World Cup Team 1 – winning gold in London in 2017, as well as with the HLA team in 2019 in Vail and the National School Girls team three times.

Meghan Curran, 5-4, Attack, Foxboro, Mass./Foxboro
A four-year starter on attack at Foxboro High School, Curran had 138 goals and 101 assists. During her career, the Warriors won four Davenport League championships and the school's first sectional championship. As a senior Curran had 35 goals, 25 assists, 69 draw controls, 52 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers while also earning all-academic honors.

A three-time league all-star, Curran was twice named an Eastern Massachusetts All-Star (second team in 2018 and first team in 2019) and captured three Sun Chronicle All-Star honors. She played for the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Team 1 at the USL National Schoolgirls Tournament in 2017 and for Laxachusetts Club, earning the Laxachusetts Club Commitment to Excellence Award.

Curran also played field hockey for Foxboro, winning two league championships and one South Sectional Championship. A three-year starter, she was named a league all-star and Sun Chronicle All-Star in 2018.

Taylor DeGroff, 5-4, Midfield, Palo Alto, Calif./Castilleja
DeGroff holds five school records for Castilleja including goals for a freshman with 53 and draws in a season with 93. She set the all-time school records in goals, points and draws after just her junior year and was named captain and MVP as a senior. As a senior she scored 71 goals with nine assists and 92 draws in 16 games. In 64 career games, DeGroff had 270 goals, 31 assists and 287 draw controls.

A two-time US Lacrosse All-American and US Lacrosse all-academic, DeGroff was named the 2019 West Bay Athletic League (WBAL) Lacrosse Foothill (Upper) Division Midfielder of the Year. She was a four-time all-league selection and was named a 2019 Adrenaline All-American.

DeGroff also played tennis at Castilleja and competed for the Tenacity Lacrosse Club.

Katherine McIntire, 5-8, Midfield, Boxford, Mass./Phillips Andover
A four-year starter, McIntire led Phillips Andover in draw controls for three seasons with more than 375. She won 155 draws as a senior captain while adding 17 goals and seven assists. In her career she had 88 goals and 29 assists and led the team in goals as a sophomore.

A two-time US Lacrosse all-academic selection, McIntire was twice chosen for the Massachusetts/Rhode Island team at the US Lacrosse National Tournaments. After competing at the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) National Lacrosse Classic in 2018, she was named to the all-star team. McIntire also represented New England at the 2017 Brine National Lacrosse Classic and the 2018 WPLL Futures Championship. She was twice selected for the Inside Lacrosse Committed Academy.

McIntire earned two varsity letters in indoor track and field and played club lacrosse for Revolution Lacrosse Club (REV).

Christy Sieber, 5-4, Midfield, Mendham, N.J./Oak Knoll
The Oak Knoll Salutatorian and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Sieber captained the lacrosse team as a senior, leading the team in assists with 40 while adding 23 goals. She was also the Royals' leader in draws with 56 and was second on the team in ground balls with 62 while forcing 24 turnovers. Oak Knoll posted a program-record 24-2 mark during the year as the top team in New Jersey and ranked fifth in the nation.

The 2019 Tournament of Champions winner, Oak Knoll also reached the semifinals in 2018 and 2016 and the final in 2017. The Royals were the four-time Group 1 champion and four-time Sectional champion and won three Prep A Championships while reaching the Union Country championship four times, winning in 2019.

Sieber finished her career with 87 goals and 71 assists for 158 points while adding 104 draw controls and 150 ground balls while her team had an 82-19 record in four seasons. She was a 2019 US Lacrosse all-academic honoree, and was a two-time first-team Elite Stars and Stripes All Conference selection. Named first-team All-Group 1 in 2019 and second-team in 2018, she was twice on the Under Armour All-American New Jersey Team and was one of the notable players in 2018.

Inside Lacrosse Magazine tabbed Sieber to its 2018 Senior Watch List and its 2017 Young Gun Top 25 Sophomore List. She was named a "standout player" by Epoch IL Women Committed Academy Invite.

She won the 2019 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Scholar-Athlete Award, the NJSIAA Jan Baker Scholar-Athlete Award, and the Union County Scholar-Athlete Award.

Sieber played varsity soccer and won a Union County championship and ran track & field. She was selected to participate in the Nike Elite 120 and had the best time in the 40-yard dash.

She is a seven-year member of STEPS Elite NJ Lacrosse Club.

Grace Tauckus, 5-6, Midfield, Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor
The team captain her senior year at Cold Spring Harbor High School, Tauckus tallied 34 goals and 11 assists, along with 62 draw controls, 40 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers as the team posted a 19-2 record. In her four years she totaled 90 goals, 27 assists and 123 ground balls as the Seahawks had a collective record of 59-18.

CSH won back-to-back New York State Championships in 2018 and 2019 as well as being two-time Long Island champion and three-time Nassau County champion.

Tauckus was named an honorable mention All-American in both 2018 and 2019 and twice earned national all-academic honors. The MVP of the 2018 New York State Class C tournament, she was also named second-team All-Long Island in 2018 and was honorable mention all-county in 2017. The Brine/USL High School Northeaster Player of the Week on June 5, 2018, Tauckus was twice named to the Newsday Long Island Top 100 Girls Lacrosse Players to Watch list.

Tauckus played four years of field hockey for Cold Harbor as well and played club lacrosse for Team Elevate.

Abbie Wilhelm, 5-6, Defense, Baldwin, Md./McDonogh
A defender at McDonogh School, Wilhelm helped the Eagles to an 83-1 record during her four years and the high school national record for consecutive wins. As a senior, she was a starter on a defense that allowed an average of 6.5 goals per game in 2019, holding opponents to five or fewer goals seven times.

McDonough won the 2017 and 2019 Under Armour/IL Girls High School National Championship as the top ranked program in the nation and also earned two Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland IAAM (A) Championships.

Wilhelm played for M&D Lacrosse Club, winning 24 total championships and was on the 2016 Under Armour Underclass Team.

She also played varsity squash and swam at McDonough, earning another IAAM (A) Championship in the pool in 2016.
