Men's Hockey Adds Seven as Class of 2023

Princeton head men's hockey coach Ron Fogarty and his coaching staff announce the addition of seven incoming student-athletes set to join the Tigers' roster as the Class of 2023.
"We anticipate the arrival of our five forwards, one defenseman and goalie that make up our class of 2023," Fogarty said. "The Class will be a key component in getting back to Lake Placid and challenge for a Championship. Â

Liam Gorman, 6-3/197, Center, Arlington, Mass./St. Sebastian's (Prep)
A Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick, Gorman comes to Princeton from St. Sebastian's. A two-time captain for the Arrows, he was also a two-time first-team all-Independent School League (ISL) while guiding the squad to the finals of the ISL in 2019. Gorman claimed all-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) East and Boston Herald All-Scholastic honors this past year. In 109 career games at St. Sebastian's, Gorman totaled 97 points, scoring 43 goals and 53 assists. Gorman was drafted in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Penguins.

 Matt Hayami, 5-10/185, Right Wing, Oakville, Ont./Markham (OJHL)
Hayami has spent the last four seasons within the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), the last year with the Markham Royals. In 54 games, Hayami scored 15 goals and 28 assists for 43 points as the Royal were the 2019 North Division champion. He played two full seasons with the Oakville Blades, joining the organization from the Toronto Red Wings Midget AAA in 2015-16. In 83 games with the Blades, Hayami totaled 40 points scoring 16 goals and 24 assists.

A two-time Oakville Blades Scholastic Player of the Year, he was also the runner-up for the OJHL Scholastic Player of the Year. He played in the 2015-16 Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) Top Prospects game and the 2017-18 Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Top Prospects Game.

A 2018 graduated of Abbey Park High School, Hayami ran track & field and played baseball and junior varsity hockey at Abbey Park.

Spencer Kersten, 5-11/175, Center, Waterloo, Ont./Oakville (OJHL)
In just two years with the Oakville Blades, Kersten racked up a number of honors while guiding his team the OJHL regular season championship and the National Junior A Championship semifinals. The team also won both the Buckland Cup and the Dudley-Hewitt Cup.

Kersten led Oakville in scoring during the regular season last year with 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) in 49 games played. He was selected as the game MVP vs. Team Russia and was the leading scorer of Team Canada East.

The was the top scorer at the National Junior A Championship with six points (1 goal, 5 assists) in four games and was named the Player of the Day on May 14 after setting up the game-winning goal that advanced Oakville to the semifinals after a three-point first period.

In addition, Kersten was the Buckland Cup playoff MVP, earning the Brent Ladds Trophy, as the leading scorer of the playoffs with 24 points in 19 games. At the Dudley Hewitt Cup championship, he earned the Top Forward Award, Top Scorer Award, Game MVP vs. Cochrane and was selected to the All-Tournament Team with eight points in four games.

Kersten was selected to the CHL Top Prospects Game and spent the 2016-17 season with the Waterloo Siskins of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). There, he is was not only named the team's Rookie of the Year, but he lead Waterloo in scoring with 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 50 games and led the team in scoring in the playoffs with 12 points (1 goal, 11 assists) in 10 games.

A 2018 graduate of St. David's Catholic Secondary School, Kersten ran track & field reaching the finals of the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association (OFFSA) West in the 4x400 and was a finalist in the 200 and 400 meter at Districts.

Aidan Porter, 6-2/180, Goalie, Weston Mass./Vernon (BCHL)
A second-team USHS All-America goalie at The Rivers School, Porter brought his talents out West to the British Columbia Hockey League playing the 2018-19 season for the Vernon Vipers. While guiding the Vipers to the finals he was named to the BCHL's all-rookie team. He was ranked sixth in the playoffs with a .904 save percentage and a 2.34 goals against average in 21 games and had a .908 save percentage during the regular season with a 2.52 GAA.Â

A 2018 graduate of The Rivers School, Porter played four years for the Red Wings hockey team, and was also a member of the baseball team. A three-time Independent School League (ISL) selection, Porter was also named all-New England as a senior before taking second-team USHS All-America honors. During his senior year he recorded a .951 save percentage and a 1.14 GAA in 31 games.

Adam Robbins, 5-8/155, Forward, New York, N.Y./Chicago (USHL)
Robbins spent the 2018-19 season with the Chicago Steel of the USHL. In 60 games he scored 11 goals and 30 assists as the Steel were Eastern Conference Champions and Clark Cup finalists.

From 2005-18 Robbins played for the North Jersey Avalanche organization. He graduated from Riverdale Country School in 2018.

Nick Seitz, 6-1/190, Forward, Manhattan, N.Y./Corpus Christi (NAHL)
This past season Seitz played for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays in the NAHL. In 46 games he had 42 points, scoring 15 goals and 27 assists. He added four more points in five playoff games. Prior to joining the Ice Rays he played 12 games for Alberni Valley in the BCHL, netting three goals and one assist in 12 games.

During the 2017-18 season, Seitz played with the P.A.L. Junior Islanders in the US Premier Hockey League (USPHL). He collected 94 points with 46 goals and 48 assists in 79 games. Seitz spent four year with the North Jersey Avalanche organization, from 2013-2017.

Seitz played lacrosse for his high school Hunter College High School, graduating in 2018.

Pito Walton, 6-2/192, Defense, Peapack, N.J./Coquitlam (BCHL)
Walton was named to the BCHL All-Rookie team last year as a member of the Coquitlam Express. The team's Defenseman of the Year, he had 36 points in 58 games, to help the Express take third in the Mainland Division of the BCHL.

During the 2017-18 season, Walton played for the North Jersey Avalanche totaling 25 points in 47 games. He also spent time with the New Jersey Junior Titans.

A 2017 graduate of the Lawrenceville School, Walton had seven goals and 12 assists in 28 games during his final year with the Big Red. Additionally, Walton was captain of the golf team and a member of the lacrosse team.
