Fedun and Teves Re-Sign; Robinson Receives Offer from Columbus
July 09, 2019 | Men's Ice Hockey
Three former Princeton hockey players made headlines in the National Hockey League (NHL) the last few weeks as Taylor Fedun '11 re-signed with the Dallas Stars and Josh Teves '19 re-signed with the Vancouver Canucks. Eric Robinson '18 was extended a qualifying offer.
Taylor Fedun '11 signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Dallas Stars. Fedun was acquired by the Stars last season from Buffalo as the team made its way to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Last year, Fedun was the Stars candidate for the Bill Masterston Memorial Trophy - awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. In 54 regular-season games, Fedun had 11 points, scoring four goals and seven assists.
In his career Fedun has skated in 100 NHL games with Edmonton, San Jose, Vancouver, Buffalo and Dallas and has registered 26 points. He had 179 points in the 349 regular-season American Hockey League (AHL) games.
Vancouver announced today it re-signed Teves, two weeks after extending him a qualifying offer right before its Development Camp. Teves signed a one-year entry-level contract this past March and made his NHL debut on March 26. His new contract is a two-year, two-way deal with expectations he will play for the AHL affiliate Utica Comets this upcoming season.
Robinson accepted a qualifying offer from the Columbus Blue Jackets as his two-year contract expired at the conclusion of the team's season in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Robinson averaged 11:50 of ice time in 13 games during the 2018-19 season, and had 24 points in 45 games for the AHL affiliate Cleveland Monsters. He led all Monsters rookies in assists, was second in goals, points and plus/minus rating. Robinson made his NHL debut on April 7, 2018 at Nashville. By issuing the offer, the team is given the right of first refusal or draft choice compensation should the player sign an offer sheet with another team.
Teves was one of four Tigers who were at NHL Development Camps this summer: Ryan Kuffner '19 with Detroit, Max Véronneau '19 with Ottawa and 2018 NHL draft pick Liam Gorman '23 with Pittsburgh.
