No. T-11 Men’s Volleyball Outlasts Saint Francis, 3-2

LORETTO, Pa. – The No. T-11 Princeton University men's volleyball team outlasted Saint Francis University 3-2 (25-19, 24-26, 17-25, 33-31, 15-10) in a thrilling five set battle Saturday inside DeGol Arena.
Senior George Huhmann led Princeton with 15 kills along with three service aces while junior Joe Kelly finished with team-highs in assists, digs and blocks with 36, seven and four.
The opening set began as a back-and-forth battle; with the scores knotted 10-10 Princeton used a 5-0 run to surge ahead 15-10 that featured a kill by Luck and four Red Flash attacking errors. With the score at 23-19, a Saint Francis service error and a kill by sophomore Jerod Nelsen, his fourth of the set, sealed it for the Tigers 25-19.
The second and third sets saw Saint Francis come out on top, 26-24 and 25-17, but Princeton was able to respond in the third. The Tigers held off match point at 26-25 and 28-27 and would knot the score at 31-31. A Huhmann kill followed by a bad set by the Red Flash saw Princeton prevail 33-31 and force a decisive fifth set.
With the score tied 4-4 in the fifth set, the Tigers used a 7-0 run to surge ahead, 11-4. A kill by senior Parker Dixon led the run off; a double block by freshman James Hartley and Kelly, a Huhmann kill, a senior Greg Luck service ace, another double block by Kelly and Hartley, a Saint Francis attacking error and another Huhmann kill would follow as the Tigers led 11-4. Princeton would go onto the win the set 15-10 and therefore the match.
