Princeton Alums Make Big Impact In PLL Group Stage

Princeton has three men's lacrosse alums in the Premier Lacrosse League, and all three have made major impacts as the league has concluded its first week of group play.
Included in that impact was a pair of overtime goals, one by Ryan Ambler and the other by Zach Currier, both of which had major significance behind them. In the case of Currier's goal, it gave the Waterdogs their first win in their short history. For Ambler, it kep the Archers unbeaten at the time and set the team up well for the elimination round.
The other Princeton alum is Tom Schreiber, who is Ambler's teammate on the Archers. It was Schreiber's goal in the final seconds of the team's game against the Chrome Friday that tied it and set up the OT.
Schreiber and Ambler are both midfielders in the PLL (Ambler played attack at Princeton). For the group round, Schreiber had seven goals and an assist, while Ambler had three goals and four assists. Currier, despite missing a game, had three goals and two assists.

This led to the game-winner, courtesy of Ambler, whose catch on the play was probably the most impressive part of his game-winner.

Currier is in his first year in the PLL after winning a Major League Lacrosse championship with the Denver Outlaws. He is with the Waterdogs, the expansion team in the league, one that had been close without a win in its first three games. That was before Currier's OT goal.
Next up is the single-elimination phase.
The Waterdogs play in the second game of the Tuesday tripleheader, which starts with the Chrome against the Chaos at 5:30 Eastern. Then it's the Waterdogs and the Redwoods at 8, followed at 10:30 by the Archers and Atlas.
The semifinals will be held Thursday (the Whipsnakes are the top seed), and then the final is Sunday.
