Ben Bograd & Melina Mahood Named Fall 2021 PNC Student-Athlete Achievers

Princeton Athletics and PNC Bank are proud to recognize our Fall 2021 PNC Student-Athlete Achiever Award recipients -- Ben Bograd (men's soccer) and Melina Mahood (women's volleyball) -- for their efforts as all-around student-athletes. Excelling In All Areas.
Melina Mahood is a junior and starting outside hitter for Princeton women's volleyball, who captured the Ivy League title in their last competition season of 2019. Melina is part of the Student-Athlete Wellness Leader Executive Leadership Team, helping to curate and facilitate trainings that promote mental health awareness and positive wellness for Tiger student-athletes. Melina has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club and with DREAM Power, a non-profit that trains therapeutic horses to interact with children with special needs. Additionally, she has worked for the African Wildlife Foundation, a non-profit aiming to protect the wildlife and wild lands of Africa.Mahood, from Los Gatos, Calif., is studying in the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs while pursuing a certificate in Environmental Studies.
A junior defender, Ben Bograd has started more than 20 games in his Princeton soccer career and was a key contributor to the Tiger's 2018 Ivy League championship. Off the pitch, Bograd serves as Vice President of the Varsity Student-Athlete Advisory Council, and on the Executive Leadership Team for the Student-Athlete Wellness Leader program. Additionally, he has served his campus community as a peer leader for the SHARE Office and as an Orange Key Tour Guide for University Admissions. During last year's election season, Bograd worked as an Outreach Coordinator for the Poll Hero Project, a student-led effort that recruited 37,000 volunteers to staff polling locations across the country.
