Princeton Announces 2022 Men's Lacrosse Schedule, Ticket Information
November 01, 2021 | Men's Lacrosse
The 2022 Princeton men's lacrosse regular season features 13 games, six of which are Ivy League games, five of which are against teams who were not on the most recent schedule and two of which are against New Jersey rivals.
Â
It does not feature Johns Hopkins, whom Princeton has played in every one of its seasons since 1937 except for the World War II year of 1944 but with whom a date for 2022 could not be worked out. Both teams hope to get each other back on their schedules for 2023.
Â
Season tickets for the 2022 season are now on sale.
Â
"There's not a guy in our program who doesn't wish it was February already," says Princeton head coach Matt Madalon. "We've had a great fall. We were so fired up for our scrimmages against Towson and Drexel, so I can't imagine what I'll be like when the season starts. This is a very exciting time for Princeton lacrosse."
Â
The season begins Feb. 19 with a home game against Monmouth and then another home game three days later against Binghamton.
Â
After that, there is a trip to NCAA runner-up Maryland, whom Princeton will play for the first time since 2016. The following Saturday, March 5, will see the Tigers again travel to the Washington, D.C., area, this time for the first meeting against Georgetown since the 2007 NCAA tournament.
Â
Princeton and Rutgers will play for the Meistrell Cup on March 12 in Princeton, and the Ivy League season begins the following week at home against Penn. Princeton is then at Yale and Brown on consecutive Saturdays.
Â
The final two non-league games will see the Tigers take on Marist for the second time ever (April 5) and Boston University for the first time ever (April 9). Both of those are at home.
Â
The regular season ends with a game at home against Dartmouth and then a trip to Harvard before a home game against Cornell.
Â
Princeton was 5-0 and ranked second or third in every poll when the 2020 season was cancelled. The 2022 Tigers will have seven starters back from that team, including first-team All-American defenseman George Baughan, four-year starting longstick midfielder Andrew Song, Canadian national team midfielder Jake Stevens, goalie Erik Peters and attackman Chris Brown, who has scored at least one goal in every game of his career.
