Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Rutgers in Home Opener

Princeton, N.J. – The Princeton University women's swimming and diving team delivered an impressive performance in their first home meet of the season, defeating state rival Rutgers 186-113.
Princeton continued to dominate in the relays, going one-two in the 400 medley and one-three in the 200 medley. The team of Alexa Pappas, Vivian Wang, Christina Bradley, and Nikki Venema (3:39.83) touched first in the 400-medley relay, beating out the team of Liza Whitmire, Margaux McDonald, Jess Yeager, and Amelia Liu (3:45.26).
Meanwhile, in the 200 medley relay, the team of Christina Bradley, Amelia Liu, Jennifer Secrest, and Nikki Venema, (1:31.22) finished first, followed by the team Nathalie Valdman, Jess Yeager, Emily Trieu, and Ellie Marquardt (1:36.07) in third.
Princeton swept four different individual events: The 100 butterfly, 200 breast, 500 free, and 200 IM. Nikki Venema (53.80) earned first place in the 100 butterfly, followed by Jess Yeager (55.42) and Alexa Pappas (55.79).
In the 200 breast, it was Ellie Marquardt who touched first, with a time of. 2:18.88. Liza Whitmire (2:19.48) was a close second, with Jaime Chen (2:20.58) following in third. Marquardt (2:02.10) also took first place in the 200 IM, with Jaime Chen (2:04.37) and Vivian Wang (2:04.54) coming in second and third respectively.
Finally, in the 500 free, Emily Appleton (4:55.49) secured a first-place finish, followed by Elizabeth Boeckman (5:00.74) and Macey Mannion (5:04.11).
Additionally, two Tigers placed in the top three in six different events: The 100 free, 100 breast, the 200 free, 200 butterfly, 200 back, and 1000 free.
Vivian Wang (1:02.17) and Margaux McDonald (1:02.97) went one-two in the 100 breast, while Elizabeth Boeckman (10:10.40) and Ellie Marquardt (10:10.75) finished first and second in the 1000 free.
In the 200 free, Nikki Venema (1:46.82) placed first, followed by Christina Bradley (1:49.56) in third. Meanwhile, Jess Yeager (2:01.16) earned first place in the 200 butterfly, with Jaime Chen (2:02.19) securing third place.
And in the 200 back, it was Margaux McDonald (1:58.63) touching first, followed by Emily Trieu, (2:04.32) in third.
Lastly, Amelia Liu (50.11) snagged second place in the 100 free, beating out Chrstina Bradley (50.21) by one tenth of a second!
Rounding out the final few individual events, Jennifer Secrest (56.83) finished third in the 100 back while Amelia Liu (23.06) placed second in the 50 free.
Next up: The Tigers travel to Penn to face the Quakers and the Cornell Big Red in a tri-meet on November 20th. Meet time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
