'50 Years' Alumna Spotlight: Crista Samaras '99

At Princeton:

• Three-time IWLCA All-America (1996, 1998, 1999).

• Two-time Ivy League Player of the Year (1998, 1999), and the 1995 Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

• Four-time All-Ivy honoree, earning first-team honors in 1996, 1998 and 1999, and second-team recognition in 1995.

• Helped the team to the 1996 Ivy League title and the 1995 NCAA final.

• Graduated as the program's record holder in career points, with 270, and goals, with 189. The points record broke the previous mark by 50 and the goals record broke the previous mark by 27. Both stood until Olivia Hompe '17 (285 points, 198 goals) broke them 18 years later.

• Graduated with the program's single-season points record, with 85, and single-season goals record, with 56. Both record stood until 2017, when Olivia Hompe '17 posted a 110-point, 75-goal season.

• Graduated as Princeton's record holder in career points, with 81. That record stood for 16 years, until Erin McMunn '15 earned the new record with 91.

• Still holds Princeton's single-season record for caused turnovers, with 58 the first year the stat was counted, in 1998.

After Princeton:

• Part of the U.S. women's lacrosse team from 1995 through 2007, helping the team to gold in 2001 and silver in 2005 at the World Cup tournaments.

• Coached at Yale and Richmond and opened her own lacrosse company, called Brave Enterprises, in 2004.
