Chen, Seabrooks Win Prestigious "Spirit Of Princeton" Award
May 11, 2021 | Men's Lacrosse, Men's Volleyball
AJ Chen of the men's volleyball team and Terrell Seabrooks of the men's lacrosse team are two of the 11 winners of the prestigious "Spirit of Princeton" award. The award "recognizes those who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the undergraduate experience through dedicated efforts in student organizations, athletics, community service, religious life, residential life and the arts."
Chen was part of Princeton's EIVA championship team in 2019, and he was also named to the EIVA All-Academic Team in 2020 and 2021. He was named as a captain in 2021.
"We are all so proud of AJ for being recognized for this award," says head men's volleyball coach Sam Shweisky. "AJ has always had an incredible sense of empathy and an innate ability to connect with and support his teammates. AJ has acted as the moral compass for our program for years and has brought guidance, advice, and support to every difficult situation. He has given so much of himself to Princeton, and we are all better for it. AJ will have a lasting impact on the culture of our program and across many spheres of influence here for many years to come. Congrats AJ - so well deserved."
Seabrooks is a four-year member of the men's lacrosse team. A longstick midfielder, he has battled through injuries to make himself an important member of the program. After graduation, Seabrooks will be attending Harvard Law School.
"Terrell is a very impressive young man," says head men's lacrosse coach Matt Madalon. "We have been very fortunate to have him in the program these last four years. Even when he was unable to play due to injuries, he did anything he could to help the team in practices and on game days. Beyond the men's lacrosse team, he has been a contributor to campus life in so many different ways, and he is such a deserving winner of this award. I speak for everyone in the program when I congratulate him, and I know he will always be a tremendous representative of our program as he moves on to Harvard Law School and then beyond."
