Men's Ice Hockey Garners ECAC & AHCA Academic Honors
July 21, 2021 | Men's Ice Hockey
As the calendar turns toward the 2021-22 season, Princeton's men's ice hockey program celebrates the many academic successes earned by its student-athletes during the 2020-21 academic year.
Three Tigers were named Krampade All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association, while 22 Princeton players were recognized on the 2020-21 ECAC Men's All-Academic Team.
Joe Berg, Sami Pharaon and Colin Tonge were named Krampade All-American Scholars by the AHCA. To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.6 GPA for each semester during the 2020-21 year.
That trio was joined by 19 of their teammates on the ECAC Men's All-Academic Team. Players are eligible for the ECAC All-Academic team if they earn a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, or have a GPA over 3.00 over the past three semesters. One student-athlete from each institution was honored on the Commissioner's List, showcasing each program's top scholar from the 2019-20 season. Princeton's representative on the Commissioner's List was Joe Berg.
"I am proud of the effort these young men have put in to becoming exceptionally well-rounded student-athletes," said head coach Ron Fogarty. "They made the most of this past year in terms of improving in all areas, and this was especially true in the classroom as evidenced by having each enrolled student-athlete appear on the ECAC All-Academic Team."
