Women's Swimming & Diving Earns Dual Meet Win Over Rutgers

RESULTS
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Princeton University women's swimming & diving team moved to 3-0 on the season Saturday, defeating Rutgers 159.50 – 140.50 inside the Rutgers Aquatics Center.
The Tigers won seven events on the day, with Charlotte Martinkus earning a score of 294.08 on the 1-meter board to earn a first-place finish. She also finished second on the 3-meter board with a score of 293.10.
Nikki Venema claimed her first victory in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall at 21.11, then followed with a win in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 49.68. Ela Noble also finished third in the 50 freestyle in 23.33.
Meg Wheeler triumphed in the 200 backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:57.16, while Liza Whitmire finished second in 1:59.71. Heidi Smithwick's time of 55.11 in the 100 butterfly also saw her claim top honors, while Isabella Korbly finished second in 55.61 and Alexa Pappas third in 55.84.
Meg Wheeler earned the top spot in the 200 IM, finishing in 2:01.84, while the quartet of Amelia Liu, Smithwick, Sabrina Johnston and Venema finished first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:20.92.
In the 200 medley relay the team of Korbly, Eliza Brown, Venema and Johnston posted a time of 1:40.94, good enough for a second-place finish.
The Tigers finished second and third in the 1,000 freestyle, thanks to Emily Appleton (10:01.91) and Nathalie Valdman (10:19.06). Princeton had similar results in the 200 freestyle, courtesy of Caroline Lewitt (1:50.48) and Amelia Liu (1:51.09). Alexa Pappas also finished second (54.43) and Korbly third (54.65) in the 100 backstroke, while Margaux McDonald took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.32.
Ellie Marquardt touched the wall second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:02.86, and Heidi Smithwick third in 2:04.27. In the 200 breaststroke, McDonald took second in 2:14.97, and brown third in 2:17.90.
The 500 freestyle saw Valdman take second (4:58.09), and Appleton third (4:58.74).
