Men's Hockey Stung In Overtime By Colgate, 4-3
November 05, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
An entertaining, back and forth game just ticked the other way from Princeton as Colgate rallied for a 4-3 win in overtime at Hobey Baker Rink.
The Tigers held three different one-goal leads, but were unable to hold off the Raiders late in the third. A goal with just over 7:00 to play tied the game, and then a Ross Mitton goal 1:03 into overtime was the difference.
Princeton held a decided 36-26 edge in shots on goal, led Liam Gorman who had seven -- including his first goal of the season. He finished with two points on the night, assisting on Princeton's third goal which was scored by his younger brother, Brendan.
Liam Gorman's goal opened the scoring 5:34 into the game, forcing a turnover at the Colgate blue line and tucking home a breakaway.
Nic Belpedio answered with a power-play goal for Colgate with just over five minutes remaining in the opening period, sneaking a wrister under Aidan Porter's glove.
Princeton worked its own power-play goal with 7:08 remaining in the middle frame. Jack Cronin one-timed a Pito Walton feed over the goalie's shoulder and under the bar for his second power-play goal of the season. The original feed over to Walton came from freshman David Jacobs for his first career point.
Colgate netted a second PPG of the night to open the third period via Colton Young. A hitting from behind major called on Nick Seitz 0:20 into the final period put Colgate on a five-minute power play, and Colton Young found the back of the net midway through the man-advantage to tie the game, 2-2.
The Tigers answered 3:26 later with Brendan Gorman's second goal of the season. After Liam kicked a loose puck off the half wall to Brendan, 2-on-1 developed with Ian Murphy who fed back to Brendan for a quick wrister and a 3-2 lead.
The Tigers are on the road next weekend, with games at Yale (November 11) and Brown (November 12).

Colgate drew even with 7:14 to play off a Simon Labelle goal. Princeton had a chance to win it in regulation after Jacobs forced a turnover deep in Colgate's end and fed a puck to Pito Walton in front who just had the puck bounce off his stick before he could tuck it home.Lil' Bro Like Big Bro
