March 12, 2022 | Men's Volleyball
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's volleyball team was upended by No. 8 Ball State 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-19), Saturday night inside Dillon Gymnasium.
The Tigers opened up leads in each set, with Ben Harrington notching two straight kills to start the first set. A James Hartley ace put the Tigers ahead by three at 6-3, but the Cardinals would storm back quickly, using a 5-0 run to take a three-point advantage of their own. Ball State would go on to win the first set 25-16.
Princeton would get out to a quick start in the second set, Ben Harrington adding two early kills to put the Tigers up 4-1. Princeton maintained a small advantage until a Gavin Leising kill gave the Tigers a five-point lead at 16-11. Ball State found their momentum late, chipping away at the Tiger advantage. The orange and black had a chance to win the second set after a Ben Harrington kill put Princeton ahead 24-23. The Cardinals would flip the script on the Tigers however, and steal a 26-24 victory in the second set.
The Tigers would score the first point in the third set, and managed to pull even at eight apiece with Ball State. However, momentum was clearly in the Cardinals favor, and the No. 8 team in the country pulled away at the end, completing the three-set sweep over the Tigers.
