March 13, 2022 | Men's Tennis
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Princeton University men's tennis team took down Arizona State 4-1 to win the ASU Invitational, winning all three of their matches at the event. The Tigers now sit at 13-5 on the season.
"It took a great team effort today against a very good ASU team that was defending their home turf," said Head Coach Billy Pate. "We knew doubles would be pivotal and that really helped us carry momentum into singles. I'm proud of the effort from all of the guys this week and we're excited to build on this success for the matches ahead."
Princeton grabbed the doubles point, with No. 26 Justin Barki and Ryan Seggerman earning a 6-4 win over Fabien Salle and Max McKennon in the No. 1 spot. Meanwhile, Bill Duo and Karl Poling got by Christian Lerby and George Stoupe with a 7-5 victory in the No. 3 spot.
In singles, No. 85 Ryan Seggerman got by Murphy Cassone 7-6, 6-3 while playing in the No. 1 spot. Will Peters took care of business against Jacob Bullard, winning 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot. Damian Rodriguez clinched the 4-1 victory for the Tigers, dropping Nicola Cigra 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot.
