Ian Murphy Named Finalist For ECAC Rookie Of The Year

Sophomore Ian Murphy has been named one of three finalists for ECAC Rookie of the Year as announced by the conference office ahead of postseason play. The winner will be announced on March 13.

Murphy has 19 points this season, tying for the team-high in goals with nine while adding 10 assists. He has posted these numbers over 23 games, missing the last two weekends with injury. He has netted one power-play goal and added one while shorthanded. His nine goals scored as a rookie are the most by a Tiger since Andrew Calof also had nine as a freshman during a 2010-11 season which resulted in his selection as ECAC Rookie of the Year and Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

Murphy is the first Tiger named a finalist for ECAC Rookie of the Year since Jackson Cressey in 2016-17. Princeton has had three players named ECAC Rookie of the Year, with John Messuri (1985-86) and Andre Faust (1988-89) joining Calof.

Princeton opens the 2022 ECAC Playoffs at Union on March 4. Puck drops at Messa Rink at 7 p.m. in Game One of a Best-of-Three series.
