Men's Hockey Eliminated From ECAC Playoffs By Union
March 05, 2022 | Men's Ice Hockey
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Princeton's 2021-22 season came to an end in the first round of the ECAC Playoffs as Union scored a 5-1 win in Game Two to secure the series.
Corey Andonovski had Princeton's goal, a power-play goal in the final minute.
Jeremie Forget made 32 saves for the Tigers.
Union scored 10:37 into the first period off a redirection in front of the Princeton cage. Dylan Anhorn fed a pass into the slot area, and Caden Villegas got a skate on the puck and knocked it by Forget.
In the second period, a turnover by the Tigers at mid-ice led to a breakaway for Liam Robertson who scored far side to increase Union's lead to 2-0.
The Tigers had a chance to climb back into the game late in the second when a coaches challenge from the Princeton bench resulted in a five-minute major for crosschecking being called on Union's Gabriel Seger with 2:16 remaining in the middle period. The Dutchmen killed off the entire penalty, though, and Princeton was unable to eat into the deficit.
Collin Graf added a third Union goal midway through the final period. Princeton had a clearing pass kick off a Tiger's stick and right to Graf who had a step on the closest backchecker and beat Forget glove side.
Graf would net a second goal during a 5-on-3 Union power play, working down to the side of the net and one-timing a cross-ice pass to give the Dutchmen a 4-0 lead.
The Dutchmen would take a 5-0 lead just after the Tigers had finished killing off the remainder of a five-minute major, depositing a rebound with 2:19 left to play.
