Men’s Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Six With 3-0 Triumph Over SHU

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's volleyball team extended its winning streak to six matches, triumphing 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-18) over Sacred Heart University, Friday night inside Dillon Gymnasium.
Sophomore Ben Harrington continued his stellar play, leading the match in kills and service aces with 11 and five, tying his career-high. First Year Henry Wedbush led the match in assists with 23 and blocks with three, while First Year Matt Suh finished with a match-high nine digs.
Princeton's 12 service aces tied it's season-high, set at the University of California, Santa Barbara, on Wednesday, January 19.
The Tigers got off to a strong start, using an early 3-0 run to take a 5-1 lead following a kill by senior Parker Dixon. The Pioneers would use a 4-0 run to take an 8-7 advantage, but a kill by Harrington sparked a 6-0 run that saw the Tigers surge ahead, 13-8, after a sophomore James Hartley kill. Shortly after, Harrington delivered three-consecutive service aces and gave the Tigers a 20-14 lead, and Princeton would go on to win the set, 25-18.
The second set began as a back-and-forth battle, but the score knotted at 9-9 a kill by junior Nate Thompson led off a 5-0 run, giving Princeton a 14-9 lead after a junior Brady Wedbush service ace. The Tigers' sixth service ace of the match, this one coming courtesy of Thompson, put Princeton ahead 19-11, then the Tigers would hold on for 25-14 second set victory.
Princeton's strong play carried over into the third set, with a Harrington kill sparking a 4-0 run that gave Princeton a 14-6 advantage after a service ace by First Year Nyherowo Omene. Princeton would take a 21-11 lead, but the Pioneers used a 6-0 run to make it a 21-17 contest. The Tigers finished strong, using a 3-0 run to close the set out, coming out on top with a final score of 25-18.
