PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's volleyball team will wrap up regular season play with a pair of home matches against Sacred Heart University inside Dillon Gymnasium Friday and Saturday.
Senior Day
Prior to the Tigers' contest against the Pioneers on Saturday, April 16, a short ceremony will be held honoring the Class of 2022; Attila Delingat, Joe Kelly, Jerod Nelsen, Niko Gjaja, and Parker Dixon.
Last Time Out
With assistance from a .375 hitting percentage, the Princeton University men's volleyball team claimed the season sweep of George Mason University Saturday evening inside Dillon Gymnasium, downing the Patriots 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-19) and winning its fifth-straight match.
Sophomore Ben Harrington led the way for Princeton, leading the match in kills with 11 on a .714 hitting percentage, and also adding a match-high four service aces. First Year Henry Wedbush led the match in assists with 24, and senior Jerod Nelsen in digs with six. Junior Brady Wedbush was a force defensively, finishing with a match and career-high nine blocks.
Along with hitting .375, Princeton limited the Patriots to a .155 hitting percentage, and recorded eight service aces to GMU's three.
EIVA Defensive Player of the Week
Following his nine-block, seven-kill, three-service ace effort against the Patriots, Brady Wedbush was honored as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week.
Through 22 Matches
Harrington leads the Tigers in kills per set (3.15), and service aces (0.56), where he also ranks No. 5 in the nation. Joe Kelly leads Princeton in assist (7.84), Gavin Leising in blocks (0.87), and Nelsen in digs (1.84).
Last Time They Met
Princeton overcame SHU, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-21), on Friday, February 28, 2020, inside Dillon Gymnasium.
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers are 10-15 on the season, and 2-12 in EIVA play. In its most recent match, SHU defeated Lancaster College, 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21), on Saturday, April 9, in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Patrick Mucherino leads Sacred Heart in kills per set (3.31) and service aces (0.37), and Tyler Kwinta leads the team in assists (5.42). Defensively, Ife Loverton leads the Pioneers in blocks (0.86), and Cole Younger in digs (1.64).
