No. 44 Women’s Tennis Advances to Second Round of NCAA Tournament, Downs Army 4-0

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 44 Princeton University women's tennis team is headed to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight season, after it upended the United States Military Academy 4-0 Saturday afternoon at the Virginia Tennis Complex at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
Making its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance, the win was the Tigers' third under Head Coach Laura Granville, as the Tigers earned wins in the 2019 and 2014 NCAA Tournaments. It also marks two-straight seasons that Princeton has won a match at the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers got off to a strong start, winning the doubles point. Grace Joyce and Maia Sung overcame Stephanie Dolheide and Carolina Vincent at No. 1, 6-1, and Daria Frayman and Nathalie Rodilosso earned a 6-3 victory over Cooper Jackson and Paige Herremans at No. 2, 6-3.
In singles, No. 43 Hu upended Jackson at No. 3., 6-1, 6-2, and No. 77 Shvets took down Paola Bou, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4. At No. 6, Sung dispatched Herremans, 6-0, 6-1.

Princeton will take on the winner of the No. 5 University of Virginia (21-5) and Youngstown State University (13-9) tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the at the Virginia Tennis Complex at the Boar's Head Sports Club in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
