OIlivia Hompe '17 Wins Bronze Medal To Lead Three Tigers At World Championships

A trio of Princeton women's lacrosse players represented their countries at the recently concluded 2022 Women's World Championships in Towson, Md. with Olivia Hompe '17 leading the way as England secured a bronze medal. Rising senior Maria Pansini and rising sophomore Tia Reaman played for Puerto Rico.
Hompe's English squad went 2-2 in pool play, before advancing to the semifinals of the Championship Bracket where they fell to Canada, 11-9.
In the Bronze Medal Game, Hompe was the hero as she scored the game-winning goal in the third overtime to secure an 8-7 win for England over Australia. Hompe was a force for England in the bronze medal match, scoring four goals and assisting on another to factor in on five of her team's eight goals.

Hompe was a key contributor for England throughout the tournament, tallying 29 points on 21 goals and eight assists.

Pansini and Reaman helped first-time entrant Puerto Rico to a 5-3 overall record. In pool play, they went 3-1 before they were also eliminated from the Championship Bracket by Canada.
Pansini was fifth on the team in points with 13 (8G, 5A). Reaman appeared in all eight matches in goal, making seven starts. She posted an 8.18 GAA.
