
Men's Volleyball Falls to Ohio State

Columbus, OH - The Princeton men's volleyball team lost an exciting match to the No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes 1-3 (25-27, 18-25, 30-28, 23-25) in the Covelli Center.
Despite the final score, multiple Tigers were key play makers in the Thursday evening matchup. Ben Harrington led the match in kills with 18, and aces with 6.
Harrington, along with Ryan Vena also led the Tigers in blocks, both totaling four for the evening. Henry Wedbush led Princeton in assists with 38, and in digs with 9.
Set One
The opening set featured the first of four back and forth sets for the Tigers. Kills from Ben Harrington, Ryan Vena, Brady Wedbush, and Owen Mellon helped the Tigers to tie things up 7-7 early in the first.
A four-point run for Ohio State put the Tigers down 7-11, but Princeton would not back down to the Buckeyes, and kept closing the margin.
Service aces from Nyherowo Omene and Henry Wedbush combined with a series of Buckeye service errors helped the Tigers to trail by 2 at 15-17.
Then a string of three errors from Ohio State and another kill from Harrington tied the set 23-23.
Despite the major comeback, along with a kill from Vena, and an ace from Harrington, Princeton dropped the opening set 27-25.
Set Two
Nyheroeo Omene continued to be a huge presence for the Tigers, opening set two with a Tiger kill. The Buckeyes were able to quickly respond, taking a 4-8 lead early on.
Ryan Vena helped to close the gap, with a service ace, and then back to back kills from Wedbush and Harrington put the Tigers only down by one, 9-10.
Ohio State kept the pressure on, and climbed to a 12-20 lead. Despite another kill and ace from Harrington late in the set, the Tigers failed to catch up, and fell to the Buckeyes 18-25.
Set Three
Set three saw the single, Tiger win of the night. Ohio State came out with a 3-0 lead, but Princeton tied things up 4-4 with a kill from Ben Harrington. Ohio State took a seven point run, leading the set 5-11. A trio of Tiger kills from Omene helped to close the gap at 9-13. Alexander Mrkalj and Josh Coan came into the set on fire, helping to contribute more Princeton kills, closing the gap by 3 points at 17-20.
Harrington did not hold back, with a four point consecutive scoring run consisting of a kill and three aces to help the Tigers take the lead 24-23.
The set continued to be a point-for-point, back and forth battle until the very last point.
A kill from Ben Harrington brought the set to 29-28, and a final error from Ohio State sealed the deal, giving the Tigers the win in set three.
Set Four
The efforts of the Tigers brought the match to a fourth set. Both teams traded points evenly throughout the fourth set. A kill from Omene sparked a three point scoring run for Princeton, who took the lead 14-12. Still point for point, Kills from Mrkalj and Omene helped tie things back up 17-17, but Ohio State would not back down, outscoring the Tigers 21-23.
A final kill from Ben Harrington. Tied the set at 23-23, but the Buckeyes managed to take the fourth set with back-to-back points to close out the match, defeating Princeton 3-1.
