Men's Volleyballs Comes Up Short in Five Set Match To No. 13 Ohio State

Columbus, OH - The Princeton men's volleyball team fell to the No.13 Ohio State Buckeyes in a hard fought, five set match 2-3 (13-25, 25-23, 25-17,17-25, 9-15).
The Tigers gave an all-out effort, and battled the Buckeyes point for point on Friday night in the Covelli Center.
Ben Harrington led the match in kills with 20. Brady Wedbush and Nyherowo Omene each contributed the only Tiger aces of the night.
Ryan Vena dominated with four blocks, and Nico Posivak totaled nine kills for the night.
Set One
The Buckeyes opened the match on fire taking an 8-3 lead. Kills from Ben Harrington, Alexander Mrkalj, Gavin Leising, and Nyherowo Omene allowed the Tigers to close the gap and trail 10-19.
The Buckeyes continued to bring on the kills, combined with a series of Princeton errors, the Tigers dropped the first set 13-25.
Set Two
Determined to get on the board, Princeton continued to challenge the Buckeyes point for point, tying things up at 5-5. Nyherowo Omene was an offensive power and continued to execute key, kills for the Tigers. With the Princeton lead extended to 20-17, and Ohio State continuing to execute serving errors, the Tigers jumped ahead 23-20.
Another Ben Harrington kill combined with a Buckeye error was enough to award the second set to Princeton 25-23.
Set Three
A motivated Tiger team went into set three on fire. Princeton and Ohio State continued to evenly trade points to tie at 8-8. A three-point scoring run that featured a Ben Harrington kill allowed the Tigers to take the lead 14-9.
Ryan Vena assisted by Nyherowo Vena came up with a huge block to take the lead 16-10.
More kills from Omene, Harrington, and Leising got the Tigers up by seven at 23-16. A final kill from Harrington combined with a Buckeye service error handed the Tigers the set, to put Princeton up by two.
Set Four
Another evenly matched set found the Tigers back and forth with the Buckeyes tying things up 8-8. The Buckeyes managed to take a six-point lead to stay ahead 18-12. More Tiger kills were not enough to take a lead and Princeton fell to the Buckeyes 17-25, to force the match to a fifth and final set.
Set Five
Similar to the fourth set, an early Buckeye lead was an obstacle that the Tigers struggled to overcome. Ohio State was able to execute a trio of kills that propelled their lead to 10-5.
Despite a service ace and kill from Nyherowo Omene, that closed the margin to 7-10, the Tigers struggled to outscore the Buckeyes falling in the fifth set 9-15.
Having concluded their seventh, consecutive match on the road, the Tigers will return to play next Friday for the Tigers' home opener against Sacred Heart.
