Alexandra Stevens Joins Women’s Swimming & Diving Coaching Staff

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton University women's swimming & diving Head Coach Abby Brethauer announced the addition Alexandra Stevens to the Tigers' staff as an assistant coach Tuesday.
"I could not be more excited to complete our coaching staff with Alex," said Brethauer. "Her energy and passion for the sport was palpable during the interview process and I cannot wait for the women on the team to get to know her and have the opportunity to learn from her. It is going to be incredible to have such a vibrant young coach on staff."
Stevens joins Princeton from Southern Methodist University, where she was a four-year member of the women's swimming & diving team and a member of the Class of 2023.
"Stepping onto the pool deck at Princeton University as the new Women's Assistant Swimming Coach is a dream realized," said Stevens. "As I grew up in New Jersey and swam in DeNunzio pool hundreds of times it feels like I have come full circle. It is going to be an amazing journey coaching these exceptional female athletes towards their full potential. With Coach Abby and Juan I am excited to continue a legacy of excellence here at Princeton University!"
A 2022 American Athletic Conference champion in the 200 freestyle relay, Stevens was a six-time All-AAC honoree at SMU. In addition to the 200 freestyle relay on two occasions, she also garnered all-conference honors in the 400 freestyle relay, the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay. Named to the 2022 AAC All-Academic Team, Stevens was also an AAC Swimmer of the on Jan. 26, 2021.
Since August 2022, Stevens has also worked at the Moody/Semones Family YMCA as the Head Coach of Fundamental Swim Programming. Stevens works to improve the swim quality of all level's practices and programs. She focuses on writing practices, improving technique, and creating a positive team environment to bring all swimmers to their very best level.
A native of Summit, New Jersey, Stevens graduated from SMU with a B.A. in Corporate Communications & Public Affairs and B.S. in Sports Performance Leadership.
