November 08, 2023 | Men's Soccer
PRINCETON, NJ - Following the conclusion of the 2023 Princeton men's soccer season, three players on the roster have been awarded All-Ivy honors.
In a standout sophomore season, Daniel Ittycheria was an unstoppable force on the field, starting an impressive 14 out of 15 games. He showcased his scoring prowess by netting a team-high 9 goals, while also contributing 1 assist, amassing a total 19 points. Having notched an impressive 9 goals, the sophomore finished the season as the standalone, second-highest goal scorer in the Ivy League. He also notably marked the highest goal tally by a Tiger since Greg Seifert's 11 goals back in 2016, surpassing Ryan Clare's 7 goals in 2022. Daniel's play this season has set the bar high for his future on the team. His performance this season has earned him a First Team All-Ivy nod.Â
Nico Nee emerged as a pivotal play maker, leading the team with the highest number of assists, tallying an impressive total of 5 during the season. His impact on the team extended beyond assist opportunities, as he showcased his scoring ability by netting 3 goals, going a perfect 3 for 3 on penalty kicks. Nee's contributions were consistent for the team's success, starting in 14 out of the 15 games played. His performance this season has earned him Second Team All-Ivy honors.
The third and final All-Ivy honor was awarded to sophomore Jack Jasinski, who clocked the most minutes on the team (1206), making a start in all 15 games this season. Jasinski's leadership as only a second-year player allowed him to play a crucial role on the pitch for the Tigers. Jasinski not only controlled a lot of possession, but he also was able to tally 3 assists. His consistency and authority this season has earned him Second Team All-Ivy honors.Â
"We are really happy for all three of these guys - they all had some special moments for us this year," said head coach Jim Barlow. "For Nico and Itty, after not seeing many minutes in 2022, it was great to see them take on much bigger roles this year. And Jack Jasinski was actually one of our most experienced players this year as only a sophomore and his consistent play earned him well-deserved recognition. Hopefully all three of these players will continue to progress and help take the team forward in 2024."
