Men's Hockey Falls At St. Lawrence
February 10, 2023 | Men's Ice Hockey
An unfortunate start had the Tigers on their heels early and Saint Lawrence capitalized in a 6-2 win at Appleton Arena.
Brendan Gorman and Jack Cronin had Princeton's goals, while Noah de la Durantaye had two assists. Ian Murphy and Jayden Sison also had helpers. Murphy now has points in seven of his last nine games, tallying 13 total points over that span.
On the play, Ethan Pearson was injured which brought Aidan Porter into the game.
The Saints would extend their lead with 4:49 left in the opening period via a Felikss Gavars snapshot traffic.
Brendan Gorman got the Tigers on the board with a late goal before the end of the first period. A Noah de la Durantaye one-timer was partially blocked on its way to goal, but the carom found the stick of Gorman who quickly lifted the puck home for his fifth goal of the season.
Five minutes into the second period, Saint Lawrence regained a two-goal lead via a seeing-eye shot from Luc Salem. With the teams playing 4-on-4, he looped a wrister through traffic off a clean faceoff win for his 10th goal of the season.
A power-play goal from Philippe Chapleau made it 4-1 for Saint Lawrence with 3:40 left in the second period – the Saints again using heavy traffic in front to screen Porter.
Justin Paul gave the Saints a 5-1 lead with a breakaway goal at the 7:49 mark of the third period.
Jack Cronin countered with his 10th goal of the season just before the midway mark of the final stanza. He took a short Jayden Sison pass in the neutral zone and then snapped the puck over Emil Zetterquist's shoulder.
The Tigers complete the North Country road trip with a game at Clarkson on February 11. Puck drops with the Golden Knights at 7 p.m. from Cheel Arena.

Saint Lawrence scored on its first shot of the game, Cameron Buhl one-timing home a cross-ice pass 5:27 into the game. Princeton had just seen a prime chance of its own turned away at the other end when an Ian Murphy chance at the doorstep was deflected away. Moments later, the Saints settled into the offensive zone and feathered a pass through the zone to Buhl for his seventh goal of the season.Lil' Gorms Comes Up Big!@brendan_gorman7 scoops up a rebound and fires it home for our first of the night. pic.twitter.com/JbQqQCZi8q
