Women’s Swimming & Diving Collects 18 All-Ivy Honors, Lundgaard Named Coach of the Year

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced its postseason awards Wednesday morning, and the conference champion Princeton University women's & diving team collected 18 All-Ivy League honors. Head Coach Bret Lundgaard also received Coach of the Year honors.
The Tigers earned First Team All-Ivy honors 12 times, and Second Team honors six times.
Lundgaard, who led the Tigers to an Ivy Championship for the second time in three seasons, helped guide the Tigers to 10 titles in the swimming events at the Ivy League Championships. Under his leadership, Princeton also earned dual meet victories over Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) opponent Notre Dame, and Big Ten opponent Rutgers.
Nikki Venema, who was the High Point Swimmer of the Meet, was named to the First Team in three individual events; the 50 freestyle, the 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Venema ends her Princeton career being named All-Ivy 19 times.
Charlotte Martinkus, who was named High Point Diver at her first Ivy League Championships, garnered First Team honors on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
Ellie Marquardt was a recipient of First Team honors in the 400 IM, and Margaux McDonald in the 200 breaststroke.
The Tigers were also First Team All-Ivy in four relays; Alexa Pappas, McDonald, Venema and Sabrina Johnston in the 200 medley relay, Venema, Johnston, Lewitt and Marquardt in the 800 freestyle relay, Johnston, Amelia Liu, Ela Noble and Venema in the 200 freestyle relay and Venema, Johnston, Noble and Liu in the 400 freestyle relay.
Garnering Second Team honors were McDonald in the 200 IM, Marquardt in the 200 freestyle, Liu in the 50 freestyle, Johnston in the 100 freestyle and Meg Wheeler in the 400 IM. Additionally, the quartet of Isabella Korbly, McDonald, Heidi Smithwick and collected Second Team honors in the 400 medley relay.
Academic All-Ivy honors also went to Noble.
