One Princeton fencing team is aiming to defend its Ivy League title and another is looking to get back to the top of the table when the annual Ivy League round-robin competition heads to Cornell Saturday and Sunday.
The Princeton women won their 11th Ivy title last season, and the Tiger men won their 16th and most recent title in 2017. Saber Chloe Fox-Gitomer, foil Maia Weintraub and épée Jessica Lin return to defend their individual weapon titles from a year ago, and foil May Tieu and saber Ryan Jenkins make it five returning All-Ivy honorees from 2022 for the Princeton women. Four 2022 All-Ivy men's honorees return for Princeton in foils Jasper Levy and Mohamed Hamza and épées Michael Bissinger and Tristan Szapary.
The seeding for the competition has the Princeton women atop the seven-team league while the men are third. While not an exact match, the seeding closely resembles the USFCA midseason rankings, which have the Princeton women tops in the Ivy and No. 2 in the nation, and the men are tied for No. 2 in the nation with Columbia and with Harvard at No. 1.
