Men's Hockey Drops Game One Of ECAC Quarterfinals At Harvard
March 10, 2023 | Men's Ice Hockey
No. 2 seed and national No. 6 Harvard scored three times in the third period to pull away in Game One of the ECAC Quarterfinals, 6-1.
David Jacobs had Princeton's goal, Aidan Porter made 25 saves.
Alex Laferriere followed 12:04 into the period with a wrist shot on an odd-man break.
Princeton had its best sequence of the night midway through the second period, with two standout Aidan Porter saves leading to a David Jacobs goal.
Off that save, the Tigers went the other way and Jacobs snapped home his first career playoff goal off assists from Tyler Rubin and Nick Seitz to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Harvard answered to regain a two-goal lead with a power-play goal from Laferriere with 3:41 left in the second period. With Princeton on the first penalty kill for either team in the contest, Laferriere slipped free in the slot to quickly deposit a John Farrinacci pass and send the Crimson to the third period ahead by a pair.
Farrell would tally his second of the night 0:33 into the third period, collecting an entry pass in the low slot and scooping it home to extend Harvard's lead to 4-1.
With the Tigers pushing forward in search of momentum, Henry Thrun poked a puck free to head in transition on a 2-on-0, dropping a pass back across the slot to Hejduk who slid Harvard's fifth goal into an open net with 8:07 left in the game.
Game Two between the Tigers and Crimson is set for 7 p.m. on March 11 at the Bright-Landry Center.

Porter went post-to-post just before the midway mark of the second frame, denying Marek Hejduk at the left post. Seconds later, he went in a similar direction to thwart an Alex Gaffney offering. Are You Kidding, Aidan Porter!
