Men's Volleyball Falls to George Mason

Princeton, NJ - The Princeton men's volleyball team put up a tough fight against George Mason University on Saturday night in Dillon Gymnasium, but ultimately fell short to the conference opponent, 0-3 (22-25,22-25,18-25) in a hard-fought match.
Nyherowo Omene and Henry Wedbush led the Tiger stats in Saturday's match. Nyherowo Omene led the match in kills with eight, blocks with four, and aces with two. Henry Wedbush led the match in assists with 18 and in digs with six.
Set One
The first set saw an early lead from George Mason. The Patriots went ahead at 7-3, but thanks to kills from James Hartley and Nyherowo Omene the Tigers tied things up 14-14. GMU battled point for point with Princeton, and took the lead thanks to several Tiger errors and Patriot kills. Despite a Ryan Vena kill, George Mason managed to win an evenly matched opening set, 25-22.
Set Two
In set two, Princeton put up another strong fight against the Patriots. A kill from Nyherowo Omene tied the set at 9-9, and later on an Omene ace put Princeton up 13-12. Following an ace from Ryan Vena that kept Princeton ahead 18-17, the Patriots took a four point scoring streak that helped George Mason get ahead. Despite a three-point scoring run for Princeton that featured a kill from Owen Mellon and Ben Harrington the Tigers came up just short in set two to GCU 22-25.
Set Three
Early in the third set, a Nyherowo Omene service ace put Princeton up 4-3 over George Mason. A Ryan Vena service ace then tied the set 7-7. The Patriots took a four point scoring run to lead the Tigers 11-7. After a Ben Harrington ace, Princeton only trailed by one at 12-11, but the Patriots took another scoring streak to earn five points and take the lead 16-11. Nyherowo Omene, Brady Wedbush, and Ben Harrington all nabbed kills for the Tigers late in set three but despite the Tigers efforts, Princeton could not catch up to George Mason, and fell to the Patriots 18-25 in the final set, and 0-3 in Saturday's match.
