
Men's Volleyball Sweeps No. 14 Charleston 3-0 in EIVA Play

Charleston, WV - The Princeton men's volleyball team defeated the No. 14 Golden Eagles of Charleston in a three-set sweep in Wehrle Innovation Center, 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-20) on Friday evening to take another victory over a ranked opponent and a conference win.
Ben Harrington led the match in kills with 13 and an impressive .409 hitting percentage for Friday's match and James Hartley led the Tigers with two aces. Nyherowo Omene nabbed three blocks, Henry Wedbush led the Tigers in assists with 41, and Brady Wedbush finished with six digs for the evening.
Set One
The Tigers opened the match strong, battling Charleston with back and forth scoring. Several Tigers helped Princeton to make a strong offensive impact in the opening set, with Nyhero Omene, James Hartley, and Brady Wedbush all contributing kills to tie the set at 7-7. A point for point battle then saw a Ben Harrington kill to put Princeton ahead 17-16, and a Harrington ace later had the Tigers up 19-18.
With Princeton ahead 24-22, a set point kill from Omene allowed the Tigers to win the opening set 25-22 and take a 1-0 lead over Charleston.
Set Two
The Tigers brought their momentum from set one to continue to work as a team all throughout set two against Charleston. A five point scoring run featuring kills from Harrington, Hartley, and Brady Wedbush was key in helping the Tigers to get ahead of the Golden Eagles, 9-5.
A focused Princeton team continued to offensively dominate to maintain the team's lead. More Tiger kills from Brady Wedbush, Ben Harrington, James Hartley kept the Tigers on top to stay ahead 23-19. A final, two errors from Charleston closed out set two in favor of Princeton 25-19, and put the Tigers one set closer to victory.
Set Three
The Tigers were ready to close out Friday's match with a victory to win set three. After a back and forth start between the Tigers and Golden Eagles, another Tiger lead was taken thanks to a four-point scoring streak that featured kills from Brady Wedbush and Ryan Vena to put Princeton ahead 17-13. Although Charleston did fight back to close the gap to 22-18, Princeton stayed on top to win set three 25-17 thanks to a final Ryan Vena kill that served as the match point to earn Princeton the 3-0 conference win over the ranked Golden Eagles.
