Men's Volleyball Defeats NJIT on Senior Night to Wrap Up Regular Season Play

Princeton, N.J. - The Princeton men's volleyball team earned a senior night victory, defeating NJIT for the second time this year with a final score of 3-1 (30-28, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21) to close out the regular season at home.
The 2023 seniors; Brady Wedbush, Danny Sun, Nate Thompson, Rodrigo Fernandez, Nico Posivak, and Alexander Mrkalj were all honored prior to Friday's match.
With the victory over the Highlanders, the Tigers improve their conference record to 7-3 and will earn the No. 2 seed in the EIVA tournament.
Princeton will play their next match in the EIVA semifinals on Thursday, April 20th in University Park at Penn State and take on the winner of the first-round match against Charleston and NJIT.

In Saturday's match with NJIT, Brady Wedbush led the Tigers with a season high, 15 kills and season high six aces.
Nyherowo Omene recorded four blocks to lead the Tigers and Henry Wedbush led the Tigers in assists (33) and digs (6) for the match.
Set One
The Tigers came out on fire and were ready to close out the regular season with a win. Princeton took an early 10-8 lead with kills from Brady Wedbush, Alexander Mrkalj, and Nate Thompson. With back-to-back kills from Thompson followed by a Brady Wedbush ace, the Tiger lead extended 14-10. The Highlander offense responded to tie things up 24-24 but Brady Wedbush continued to bring the offensive energy with a Tiger kill and ace to put Princeton up 27-26. The senior class shined in the first set, with Thompson closing out set one with a pair of kills to put the Tigers up 1-0 over NJIT.
Set Two
Ahead by one, Princeton continued to battle with the Highlanders. Another back and forth set was tied 13-13 following a Alexander Mrkalj kill. NJIT brought the offense, fighting Princeton point for point. With more kills coming from Nyhero Omene, Mrkalj, and the set continued in a point for point fashion up to 20-20. In an evenly played set, back to back points scored by the NJIT allowed the Highlanders to stay ahead 23-20, and then ultimately win set two 25-22 after a kill from NJIT.
Set Three
With the match tied at 1-1, Princeton was ready to strike back and earn another set victory. Princeton took a 14-12 lead thanks to a three-point scoring streak featuring a Ben Harrington kill and Nyherowo Omene ace. Although NJIT was able to get ahead of the Tigers 18-15, Princeton responded with a four-point scoring run that featured a pair of kills from Ryan Vena and a Ben Harrington ace.
Princeton closed out the third set with a three-point scoring run. A final ace from Brady Wedbush followed by a Harrington ace earned Princeton the set three victory to put the Tigers ahead 2-1 for the match.
Set Four
An energized Tiger team was ready to close out set four with a conference victory. The Tigers took an early 15-10 lead, with Brady Wedbush nabbing more kills and an ace. Ben Harrington and Brady Wedbush continued to come up with big plays to lead the Tiger scoring. Princeton stayed ahead thanks to more Highlander errors combined with four, final Harrington kills to close out the fourth set with a Princeton win 25-15 and the match 3-1.
