Amelia Hughes Named Ivy League Defensive Player Of The Week

For the second time this season, Amelia Hughes has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week following her 14-save effort in Princeton's 17-13 win over Harvard to secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Ivy League Tournament.

Hughes picked up steam as the game went on, making four saves in the second quarter, four in the third quarter and finishing with five saves in the fourth quarter as the Tigers pulled away from the Crimson at Sherrerd Field.

Hughes had previously been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on March 13 after a similar 14-save effort -- this time in an 11-8 win over then-No. 20 USC.

A 19-save effort from Hughes in the second week of the 2023 season against Temple earned her IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Hughes and the Tigers take on No. 2 seed Yale in the semifinals of the Ivy League Tournament May 5 at Penn Park in Philadelphia. Opening draw with the Bulldogs is set for 4 p.m.
