Women's Rugby to Host Two-Time Defending NIRA Champion Dartmouth

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's rugby team continues its fall season Saturday against two-time defending national champions Dartmouth at the West Windsor Rugby Field.

An Impressive Performance
The Tigers came close to earning their first 15s win at the varsity level on Sept. 9, falling 27-26 to Mount St. Mary's at the West Windsor Rugby Fields. Princeton, who led 12-0 at halftime, maintained the lead into the final moments of the match.

Clarke Shines
Amelia Clarke was dominant against the Mountaineers and ended the day with a hat trick. In addition, Clarke had a team-high 24 carries and made 10 tackles. Over the summer, she was selected for the USA Rugby Women's U20 team and played in matches against Canada and Wales.

Impressive Freshmen
A trio of Tiger freshmen all turned in impressive performances against Mount St. Mary's. Hannah Mulligan led the team in tackles with 13 and had 11 carries, which ranked second on the team. Celia Watson scored one try, tied with Laura Esguerra for second on the team in tackles with 11 and had nine carries while Malinka Kwemo made nine tackles and had nine carries.

Defensive Stalwart
For the second week in a row Leilani Bender was in the top three for tackles, finishing with nine.
 Scouting Dartmouth
The Big Green, NIRA Division I Champions in 2022 and 2021, are 2-0 on the season and are coming off a 42-12 win over Army in West Point, N.Y., on Sept. 9.
