No. 6 Men's Water Polo Earns Two NWPC Awards; Preps For Home Weekend

PRINCETON – The No. 6 Princeton Men's Water Polo Team had Roko Pozaric and Kristóf Kovács earned Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) weekly awards.
Pozaric earned NWPC Player of the Week after he tallied 10 goals and seven assists for the Tigers at the MPSF Invitational, leading the team to a 2-2 record for the weekend. Pozaric tied his career high with six goals in the win over No. 14 Cal Baptist along with three steals. The junior also scored two points against No. 4 Stanford as well as No. 10 Long Beach State. In the game against No. 4 Pepperdine, Pozaric scored once and had three assists. It's the ninth time he's won the award.
Kovacs nabbed his second conference Defensive Player of the Week honor (fourth overall) recording two wins vs. No. 14 Cal Baptist and No. 10 Long Beach State. He made 10 saves against Cal Baptist and six stops vs. Long Beach State.
Princeton sits at No. 6 in the Association of Collegiate Water Coaches' (ACWPC) Poll and the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) after finishing sixth at the MPSF Invitational. The Tigers opened up with a 16-8 win over No. 14 Cal Baptist before falling to No. 4 Stanford, 11-6. Head coach Dustin Litvak's crew defeated No. 10 Long Beach State, 9-8, and finished up the tournament with a 15-11 loss to No. 4 Pepperdine.
The Tigers sit at 11-2 overall and begin NWPC action this weekend at DeNunzio Pool vs. No. 20 Harvard (12 p.m.) and MIT (5 p.m.) on Saturday along with No. 18 Brown on Sunday (12 p.m.). Princeton has won 20 of its last 22 regular season conference games.
Pozaric leads the squad in points with 53, adding 33 goals and 20 assists. Vladan Mitrovic is second with 24 tallies while George Caras (19), JP Ohl (14), Yurian Quinones (12), Logan McCarroll (12), Mason Killion (11) and Pierce Maloney (11) each have double digits in goals this season.
West Temkin and Kovacs have been a steady 1-2 duo in the cage for Princeton, combining for a .579 save percentage.
