No. 24 Women’s Swimming & Diving Takes Down Notre Dame & Navy

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 24 Princeton University women's swimming & diving team moved to 7-0 Saturday afternoon inside the Rolfs Aquatic Center with a 187-166 victory over Notre Dame and a 295-58 win over Navy.
The meet was highlighted by a new program record in the 400 medley relay, with the first-place quartet of Isabella Korbly, Margaux McDonald, Heidi Smithwick and Sabrina Johnston finishing in 3:35.67 and winning the event. The Princeton quartet of Grace Black, Eliza Brown, Veronique Rossouw and Ela Noble finished third with a time of 3:41.47.
Princeton earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 IM after McDonald finished in 2:00.15, Eleanor Sun in 2:00.37 and Brown in 2:01.74.
The Tigers would earn the top-two spots in the 400 IM, with Dakota Tucker touching the wall first at an NCAA B cut time of 4:07.50 and Smithwick second at 4:16.55, also an NCAA B cut. Princeton would also earn the top-two finishes in the 50 freestyle thanks to Johnston (22.56) and Noble (22.83). Johnston's time was an NCAA B cut.
Thanks to her score of 318.30, Charlotte Martinkus won the 3-meter diving and earned an NCAA zone cut. On the 1-meter board, Martinkus finished second with a score of 278.60, also an NCAA zone cut.
Ellie Marquardt earned a first-place finish and an NCAA B cut in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.69, while Sun took third in the event in 1:47.92. Marquardt's second win of the meet came in the 500 freestyle, where she clocked in at 4:45.66, another NCAA B cut.
In the 100 breaststroke, McDonald finished first and earned an NCAA B cut in 1:00.77. Brown finished third in 1:02.43.
A second relay victory took place in the 400 freestyle relay thanks to Johnston, Noble, Marquardt and Smithwick clocking in at 3:15.51. The quartet's time was also an NCAA B cut.
Smithwick's time of 1:56.53 in the 200 butterfly saw her secure the win and an NCAA B cut, while Tucker came in third with a time of 1:59.69. Smithwick also won the 100 butterfly (53.67) with Edie Simecek also finished third (54.59).
After touching the wall at 48.84, Johnson won the 100 freestyle and earned an NCAA B cut. Marquardt took third in 50.12.
The 200 medley relay saw the Tigers finish second and third. Korbly, McDonald, Simecek and Noble posted a time of 1:39.11 while Donata Katai, Brown, Margaret Hayes and Rossouw clocked in at 1:41.17. The 200 breaststroke was another event where Princeton finished second and third thanks to Tucker (2:14.21) and Brown 2:14.36).
Korbly's time of 54.62 in the 100 backstroke saw her finish third. The 1000 freestyle also saw Sun take third in 9:58.19. Sun captured another third-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.15.
