Arthur Smith Earns MAC Goaltending ECAC Goaltender Of The Month Award

Freshman goalie Arthur Smith had himself quite the month of December, and the ECAC noticed as the netminder was named MAC Goaltending ECAC Goaltender of the Month for the final month of 2023.

Smith played in four games in December and was undefeated to the tune of a 3-0-1 record. He won all three of his starts and played 25 minutes of shutout relief in a 2-2 tie with Sacred Heart.

He played 85 minutes overall against the Pioneers in a weekend series, opening with a 21-save shutout on December 8 before making eight saves the following night after an injury to the night's starter forced him into action at the start of the third period.

In December, Smith posted a 1.76 GAA, allowing six goals in 205:00 of play. He also had a .935 save percentage, stopping 86 of 92 shots faced.

Overall this season, Smith is 5-2-1 in goal with a 2.47 GAA and a .917 save percentage. He ranks No. 3 in the ECAC and No. 18 in the country in save percentage, No. 5 in the ECAC and No. 29 in the country in GAA, and No. 2 in the ECAC and No. 11 in the nation in winning percentage (.688).
