Offense Shines As Men's Hockey Downs Waterloo In Exhibition, 6-0

An exhibition game against the University of Waterloo gave Princeton fans a glimpse into the new era under head coach Ben Syer and first impressions were positive as the Tigers put up six goals in a 6-0 shutout of the Warriors.

Princeton had a decided edge in shots on goal, putting up 48 to just 18 by Waterloo, and six different Tigers found the back of the net while 11 Princeton players had at least one point.

Jayden Sison dished out three assists to lead all scorers, while David Ma and Noah de la Durantaye each had two helpers as Princeton's defensive until jumped into the play all night long.

Alex Konovalov had a goal and an assist for a multi-point night of his own.

While it was an exhibition, a trio of Tiger freshmen had memorable evenings in the first skate on Baker Rink ice against an opponent as Kai Greaves, Luc Pelletier and Miles Gunty each scored.

Ethan Pearson made 11 saves in his period and a half, while Arthur Smith stopped seven shots to close out the shutout.

The Tigers were 2-for-3 on the power play, and killed off all three short-handed opportunities.

Alex Konovalov opened the scoring for the Tigers just under seven minutes into the game, scooping home a loose rebound after a rush from David Ma and Joshua Karnish put pressure on the Warriors.

Kai Daniells extended Princeton's lead to 2-0 in the waning moments of the first period with a 5-on-3 power play goal, one-timing home a shot off a pass from Jayden Sison with Michael Young picking up the other assist.

Carson Buydens gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead with a power-play goal of his own 3:21 into the middle frame when he redirected home a centering pass from David Ma.

The Tigers extended their lead to 4-0 with 6:50 remaining in the second period when Luc Pelletier tipped home a Noah de la Durantaye wrister from the point after a clean Pelletier faceoff win in the offensive zone.

A third Princeton goal in the middle stanza came off the stick of Miles Gunty when the freshman took a Jayden Sison pass and roofed a snap shot under the bat with 2:17 to play in the period.
